Falcons Primary School

Road Safety

At Falcons Primary we are part of the WOW walk to school challenge ran by Living Streets. The scheme rewards children who walk to school or use public transport to get to school at least once a week each month. Children receive badges to celebrate this. We recognise therefore that walking to school needs to be a safe and pleasant experience for families.

Children in our school Eco Club recently undertook a walk to school route audit with teachers and the Living Streets Coordinator for Leicester (see photo below). The children highlighted a number of issues and improvements (from road signs to getting extra bins placed near the school) and these have now been reported to the council.

In addition we encourage our children and their families to be safe when near traffic and/or crossing roads. We would also strongly encourage parents to educate themselves and their children on the importance of road safety. You can find lots of resources to help you with this at: Think about road safety
